Born and bred in the
depths of the volatile East Coast punk rock
scene, Marc(Ø) has always had a passion for
music. With early beginnings singing for various
punk and hardcore bands, he always sought out new
and interesting sounds. In the late 80's he
discovered "industrial music" in the form of
pioneering artists Meat Beat Manifesto and Nine
Inch Nails. He was instantly sucked in by the
pounding beats and mechanical sounds. Sooner or
later he was bound to come across electronica,
and in the summer of 1991 he did just that.
Marc(Ø) became immersed in the early US rave
scene, but for years only remained an attendee.
In 1999, after bugging one too many DJ friends to
play his favorite tracks for him - one
influential DJ had finally had enough. His good
friend DJ Sinestro said to him "Why dont you just
learn how to spin?", and the rest is history. He
picked up his 1st vinyl in early
2001, and it began a never-ending quest to find the perfect beat. His early dabblings into various forms of house quickly gave way to the more funky and liquid sounds of breakbeat and "atmospheric" D&B. That is of course until he heard the emerging sound known as "Nuskool Breaks". For the past several years, he has made breakbeat his mainstay, using elements of progressive house and breaks, tech-house, tech-funk and electro to round out his sound. Playing his signature style which he dubs "Electrofunk" , he has played all over, from the world famous weekly party "Buzz" (aka Cubik) to San Francisco's Love Parade, and has no intention of slowing his momentum any
time soon...
Marc(Ø) has played alongside such notable acts as: Scott Henry, Reid Speed, AK1200, Richard "Humpty" Vission, Future Funk Squad, Hi-8, Myagi, J-Break, Joe Nice, and his own personal heroes, Meat Beat Manifesto, as well as a host of local Bay Area DJ's/artists, and many of the DC/Baltimore scene's hometown heroes.
