For over 15 years,
Dj Sequoia, has rocked dance floors from
California to the East Coast with an intoxicating
mix of bumping House music; blending
electro-funky bass lines with vocal-infused
tribal and Latin grooves. In 2006 he moved to
Washington, DC from California and has built a
loyal following of dancers grooving to his
seamlessly mixed booty-shaking tracks. He
currently organizes two monthly dance parties in
DC and regularly promotes/dj's at clubs, parties,
and events throughout the Mid-Atlantic. He
is active in the East Coast Burning Man scene
both as a promoter of large-scale "Burner"
parties in the DC area and as a dj at epic
parties thrown by crews including PEX
(Philadelphia), Disorient (New York City), and
Meso Creso (DC). Dj Sequoia co-founded the
DC-based crew, Mischief (www.mischiefdc.com), is
a dj for Disorient (http://wiki.disorient.info),
and is a member of the nation-wide dj and
producer collective, The Midnight Sons
(www.themidnightsons.com)
In California (1995-2005), Sequoia was a founding member of Humboldt, California’s longest running dj collective, the Deep Groove Society and the now disbanded Humboldt Rave Collective. During the Humboldt days, Sequoia promoted and performed at Full Moon parties on the beaches and in the mountains of Northern California. Under the full moon and backset against the majestic redwood trees of the Lost Coast, Sequoia found his groove and developed the art of channeling dance floor energy through proper track selection and instinctive mixing. The Deep Groove Society is still alive and strong today and Dj Sequoia, as a founding dj, is and “adjunct” member. Sequoia was also a volunteer coordinator for the electronic music stage at the longest running Earth Day celebration, The Whole Earth Festival in Davis, CA. During his time in Davis, Sequoia honed his skills with house music evolving from his roots in tribal techno to the funky sounds that keep a club dance floor moving and crowds cheering for more.
